Unique Musical Art

Daniel Edlen paints Vinyl Art, portraits of musicians and entertainers on vinyl records made by the subject. Instead of Elvis on velvet, think Elvis on an Elvis record.

For a mere $250 you can have a custom unique work of fine art. That's almost as good as saying you got to see the Beatles live.

Visit Vinyl Art and give your favorite music lover a remarkable gift.

that old radio show

did a radio show for a while; chats with grassroots musicians, samples of their music; good fun while it lasted.

so who is this charlie cheney fellow anyway?

charlie cheney plays gigs, writes songs, does voice-over work, and creates and markets indie band manager. he's started and sold five companies, recorded and released three cds, written and produced a musical in manhattan (to rave reviews in the voice), and worked as a busboy at chi-chi's.

in the past few years cheney has added "motivational speaker" and "music industry icon" to his resume, and is now a sought-after speaker for music conferences and universities (sxsw, cmj, dfest, fullsail, mpmf, deweybeachfest, bccc, bmi new york, midatlantic mmc, eat'm, and nemo among others to date). he's a veritable one-stop-shop for performing, entertaining, story-telling, songwriting, barbeque ribs, lawn care, and drinking rolling rock beer (yes, you can buy him one, thanks for asking).

bruce h. mccosar. jazz. melodic, emotional, fulfilling. instrumentals, but lyrical. this is not the kind of jazz you hear in the elevator. this is the stuff that gets stuck in your head.

this week's guest is the queen of collaboration, empress of the fora, that love child of tom lehrer and tom waits, nancy rost. she sings, she plays piano, she confuses people. listen to find out how, and perhaps why.

billy sea is converting the country to, well, country. one of the most common comments on his songs is "don't normally listen to country, but . . . " listen and find out why.

frances slept here.

yes, apparently time works differently in the frozen north, or perhaps it's just alarm clocks. frances has promised to do another show wherein she actually joins us. we have promised not to give her too hard a time about it.

her voice still makes me shiver.

our march 14th guest was errol elumir. my mother would call errol 'a card.' we pretended to be serious. we failed.

we did get to chat with frances, though, and the podcast goes on for 40 minutes. just not about music . . .

our guest on our march 7th show was ross durand. we talked about his upcoming album 'going back out—the hard rain songs vol.' which uses lines from dylan's hard rain's gonna fall as the song title and launching lyrics for each song. played a handful of 'em and chatted with ross about the project.
